Endodontic treatments to alleviate pain & heal your tooth
Endodontics is a branch of dentistry that concerns the dental pulp and tissues surrounding a tooth’s roots. Endodontic treatment treats the soft pulp tissue inside the tooth. Common endodontic treatments include root canal treatment, re-treatment, and root end surgery.

Endodontics
Endodontics gives you the best chance at saving an infected tooth vs extracting the tooth. Your endodontist can remove the inflamed pulp. Then they clean and disinfect the inside of your tooth and place a filling on your tooth to seal the space. This alleviate pain the ability to save your tooth.
Endodontic Treatments
Here are some common types of endodontic dental care services:
- Root Canal Treatment: carefully removes the pulp inside the tooth, cleans, disinfects and shapes the root canals, and places a filling to seal the space.
- Root Canal Re-treatment: involves the removal of the previous crown and packing material, the cleansing of the root canals, and the re-packing and re-crowning of the tooth.
- Root End Surgery / Apicoectomy: an apicoectomy is also known as root end surgery. This is because it involves the removal of a tooth’s root tip and surrounding tissue.
- Endodontic surgery: can be used to locate small fractures or hidden canals previously undetected on X-rays during the initial treatment.
- Traumatic dental injuries: chipped or fractured tooth’s crown can be repaired either by reattaching the broken piece or by putting a tooth-colored filling in place. If a significant part of your tooth crown is broken off, an artificial crown or “cap” may be needed to restore it.
- Abscessed tooth: The abscess must be drained. A root canal or antibiotics may be needed. Sometimes, the tooth needs to be pulled.
